Concentrations - Academic and Professional

All new graduate students are by default admitted into the professional concentration. Those wishing to consider the academic concentration should be in touch with the director of CS. The academic concentration is more challenging and geared towards systems, theory, and algorithms. If someone wants to do a PhD eventually or land certain types of jobs, they should choose the academic concentration. But not everyone has the background to succeed in that concentration. The professional concentration is more flexible and geared towards skills and applications. We start all students in the professional concentration by default, and will suggest a switch to the academic concentration if someone is one of the top students and shows an interest in systems and theory.
