August 27, 2021 * Grades for h0 have been entered in Blackboard. I gave you a 10/10 if you turned in a complete assignment, 5/10 if you submitted a blank file, and 0/10 if nothing was submitted. For those that got either a 0 or 5, i left feedback on Blackboard explaining what happened. You can resubmit this assignment with those errors fixed, and I'll change your 0 or 5 to a 10. I intentionally made this assignment an easy A so that you can start this semester with an A in the class. Whether or not you keep that A is up to you. * On the subject of Assignmemnts and Quizzes, all quizzes and assignments in this class will be worth 10 points each, that is, all of them will be weighed equally when calculating your grade for the class. * Students in Dr. Sternfeld's class will have a quiz in-class next Tuesday over unix commands. * The online students will also have a quiz over unix commands available on Blackboard at around the same time. You will be given (at most) a week to complete it. For this class, it will be open-note, open-book, open-internet, but not open other people. This quiz will also have a time limit, and will be set so that you probably won't finish if you do not study. I'll also make it so that you have to take the quiz in one sitting, you will not be able to start it, then leave and come back later, so don't take it until you think you're ready. * On the quiz, it will be similar to the homework, so if you do fine on the homework, you should be fine for the quiz. * Reminder that h1 is due this Tuesday at 11:59PM. Expect an Assignment h2 over basic C programming to come out sometime next week. * 301 Students (Mr. Compton) - Reminder that you do need to check in at least once a week using one of the methods listed in the Check-In instructions page. You do get points for just doing this. If you haven't cooresponded with me yet you have until 11:59 PM on Saturday to do so. * Make sure you are watching Dr. Sternfeld's lectures, this is the best way to keep up with the class. I also record my Open Office Hour Meetings, and I do demonstrations there too, so these are worth watching as well. Also, when getting to the recordings on Zoom, if it asks you for a passcode, the passcode you need should have been pasted to the clipboard, so all you need to do is just right-click on the field where you'd enter the passcode, and hit paste (or just type Ctrl-V). -John
