Courses and Hours

CS students are required to work on an independent programming project as part of their degree requirements. At the undergraduate level this is part of ECT 437 and ECT 438. At the graduate level this is part of CS 685 Software Project or CS 695 Computer Science Research.

Note that students typically take one or two semesters (15 or 30 weeks) to work on their projects. Students taking the courses are typically expected to spend 5-10 hours per week working on their project. Students sometimes work in teams. CS faculty provide oversight with respect to course requirements but typically can offer only limited technical guidance.

Submit Project Proposal

Outside companies, faculty from other departments, etc. can submit a proposal for a project that they would like assistance with. Each term the CS faculty includes these project proposals as options for the students to work on.
